COVID-19 Update

Due to the current COVID-19/Coronavirus situation, all Thornleigh Car Club events and meetings scheduled up until the end of June have unfortunately been cancelled.

We hope that monthly meetings will begin again in July, though this will depend on Government and Health advise.

We hope everyone is staying safe, isolated (where possible or where necessary) and keeping healthy during this uncertain time.

Thornleigh Car Club looks forward to when we can return to motorsport and once again provide a high standard of event to other clubs and community.

Thornleigh Car Club is a fun, inclusive and diverse grassroots motorsport club.  Based in the Sydney's northern suburbs, our members come from all over NSW and participate in a wide range of motorsport disciplines in a huge range of vehicle makes and models.  We offer events on our calendar from relaxing social cruises, to track days and forest rallies.

Drop in to visit our monthly meeting, send us an email, check out our Facebook page or browse our 2020 calendar to see what is coming up.

Do you want to get started in motorsport or learning how to drive but not sure where to the "Motorsport Explained" tab for all the information on events, licencing, types of events and how to compete on a budget in a standard road car.

Become a member of Thornleigh Car Club (TCC) and start your motorsport journey as either an official or competitor.

Sunday 31st May          TCC State Motorkhana        POSTPONED - TBA

It is with some disappointment that I confirm that the NSW Motorkhana Championship round, organised by Thornleigh Car Club, on Sunday 31st May will not be going ahead.

Although we are getting closer to a return of regular motorsport, events with more than 10 people require an extensive venue plan to be completed and submitted before the event can be approved to be run. Whilst the majority, if not all, of the concerns could be safely addressed there is no guarantee that the event would still be allowed to run. At present, for events with more than 10 people in NSW, there is a requirement for the venue plan and safety procedures to be signed off by the relevant government department. I have been advised that other events, including a rallysprint, have recently been declined by the NSW Government despite the support from Motorsport Australia.

There are too many things working against this event at present to ensure a fair and viable state championship round.

This decision has not been made lightly and as I am ultimately concerned about the fairness of a championship round for all competitors, I unfortunately feel that it is the right decision.

At present we do not know whether we are in a position to simply call our round a postponed round or if the round will be cancelled. Thornleigh Car Club only has one workable date (27th September) that fits in with its own calendar, the state championship calendar and the calendars of the clubs that regularly include this round in their own club championships, however there is already a booking at Nirimba TAFE on this date. Nirimba will be talking with the other party to see if they still require that date, or whether there is any possibility of moving their event to free up the date for us, however there is no guarantee that this will end in our favour.

What I can guarantee is that I will keep you informed of what is happening with future/re-scheduled events as soon as I know, and that we all can’t wait to run another motorkhana and see everyone enjoying themselves without all of the restrictions.
